HI all,
OK, the message is out, it's time to fire up the "Save the Delta Queen" campaign. Let's not theorize as to why this is now a problem, when in the past it wasn't, let's just get busy posting/writing/faxing/phoning congress and make certain they know how important it is to the American Public and to the American legacy to keep the Delta Queen afloat and running! The coast guard doesn't like her wooden superstructure AND steam plant, both anacronisms in today's commercial marine world--but those are just part of the things that makes her continued operation so important--there's not another overnight boat like her still running! And that is the only way to really experience traditional steamboating--on a functioning STEAM boat.
It seems coincidental that 37 years after writing many "save" letters, I finally get to ride the boat, and now it's time to write "save" letters once again!

You wouldn't think they'd do this all over again! Is it something that returns every generation like the 17 year locusts? They better not do away with the steam whistle and calliope!!

OK David, I've written my two senators (same as yours) and my congressman with copies to the two chairmen listed in MAL's note.

Would it be helpful to know the bill numbers that this exemption might be attached to? Or is it that far along yet?
