For those interested, the American Queen was at the Louisville wharf this morning.
Jo Ann,
Wow, that means she made a 40 hour run to Louisville from Marietta! 432 miles, 6 locks (figure one hour each) means she had to average 12mph to have made it by 8am.
Impressive! Who'da thunk it?

She was at the wharf when I went by about 8:20 a.m.
Last week on the DELTA QUEEN headed down river we had been making good time 10+ mph, but when we turned onto the Mississippi River they said we were doing 13 mph. The Old Miss was up, moving fast and muddy!
Hey Travis, I saw the American Queen soon after she left Marietta. When she went by Point she was making 11 mph. It was night time, probably about 10 pm and the boat looked great at night (all the lights). My favorite part is the beams of light that shoot up into the air from the paddlewheel. I took a video of her, but it didn't turn out very good.

She was NOT there when I crossed the bridge just before 7 AM.
Nick...and all,
Considering she made 6 lockages....and covered all those miles....11 mph ain't bad! With out the current of the enraged upper stretches of the LMR, in Ohio River pool water....I am impressed with what the 13year old girl has accomplished!
She was still at the landing when I left an interview about 3pm...so I figured they hung in here till 5 or so.

Yeah, I might post my video if I can on youtube or somewhere else. I saw the AQ at night one other time in 2003, and thats why I really wanted to see her this time. It was raining, and lightning but I still went to the riverfront. At least I can drive now, in 2003 I rode my bike.
When I crossed the Second Street Bridge en route home at 4:35, she was still there, but they were rolling the wheel so departure must have been imminent.
