Somehow, I'm not the least bit surprised that the MAL reservationist I just spoke with this evening (26 June 2008) had no idea that the Upper Mississippi River is above flood stage over much of its basin. She seemed to be genuinely surprised when I told her the river is closed to traffic for the foreseeable future too. Needless to say, she had no idea where the AMERICAN QUEEN is going to be rerouted while the Miss. remains in flood, or if to fill up the boat, price discounts will be offered. What a way to run a river cruise line!
