Greetings From New Orleans ,
If anyone has plans to be in the New Orleans area this year and would care to take a trip on a ship with me please let me know and I will make the necessary arrangements . I believe that you will discover for yourself the differences between an excursion boat and even a tow boat from from the sea going ships that come up the Mississippi River . If interested please feel free to contact me and I will fill you in on the details .

A Worthwhile Trip
I have made a number of trips with Capt. Ted and highly recommend it. To those with a background in the marine industry, it allows a different perspective from what most get the chance to see working on the river. For those who have ridden only as passengers or never had the chance to spend much time on vessels underway, it could be a once in a lifetime oppertunity. There are changes in Homeland Security which will severly limit non-crew access to vessels in the next few years.
You could be on board a ship of Top Shelf caliber, or one which would make you question it's ability to make the next dock. It is always interesting to watch bridge operations and even more fun when you can't understand a word being said.
You may be invited to dine in the officers mess to steak or eat on the bridge wishing it were dark so you would not have so many questions about what was just put in front of you. Note: Best to drink processed or boiled water drinks.
Some crews are very chatty and friendly, others make you wonder if you will get off the ship with all that you came aboard with.
Ted is very skilled at conning the ship while able to answer the many questions you will have as the trip progresses.
Sunset and sun rise on the river are always speical, even more so leaned on a bridge wing, on a ship you will never see again, being some place most people never even consider having a chance to be at.
In many ways it truely is a once in a life time experiance and should not be missed or the chance passed up if you have any sense of adventure or river water in your veins.
I do not tend to get too excited by many things, but a chance to ride a ship in the New Orleans harbor is one I'll take anytime.
Wowziers!! What a gracious invitation! Wish I could do it, but spent all my vacation money and then some already. I hope a few of our members take you up on this--HEY BRUNO! lookit this opportunity!!

Now this is intriguing, very...and I will be in NOLA for some short times this year, but not nearly enough time, time just right to get us from the airport to the steamboat and back again. But if this invitation were to be carried for a while, I'd definitely take you up on it the next time we're in NOLA for a spell. Heck, Deb and I have been in N'Orleans twice and we still didn't find time to ride the Natchez...But then again our priorities weren't quite right...we know better now.
David, somehow I don't think Deb and Linda would be as enthralled as us two...
Hmm, you might have something there, Bruno! Wonder what the boat crews would think of us flying kites off the bridge??? Heh heh heh.
