Hey all,
This link was sent to me today and I was told the boat in question was the DIAMOND LADY. At first I doubted it...after careful inspection of the information in this link I determined it was infact the DIAMOND LADY. All the measurements and dates match up to the DL.

Here is what I don't understand/know. Why was her name changed? How did they get a COD (Certificate of Documentation as opposed to a COI or Certificate of Inspection) on a boat which has been laid up for this amount of time (assuming she would be under a grandfather clause having been built in 1991 she shouldn't have a COD unless she was brought up to date for inspection purposes).
Anyone have any ideas on this one...it sure has me wonderin!
Something tells me there is a story here...cause the COI on the "other" MQ had run out by the time this name was affixed to her but the COD had not.

It looks as if they have mixed dimensions of two boats here. The net tonnage of a 175' boat would be more in the nature of 450-500 net tons, bearing in mind that the license number on your car or your telephone number is as accurate as USCG admeasurement.
Travis: It is the old Diamond Lady. The PSIX site contains only stastics while the Vessel Documentation site provides much more info. The boat now belongs to Sultan Pier Corp., Perth Amboy, NJ. Actually its the same buyer who bought the boat from Isle of Capri. He has changed the name and re-documented the vessel under that new name. Her official # remains the same, 972893. It's easy to get a new document. Now as to the COI it was revoked about 10 years ago. To get a new COI the boat has to be brought up to present day, new boat standards. By the way the Diamond Lady partially sunk about two months ago.
The COD is easily renewed annually, as long as you return the annual form letter that asks if there are any changes in ownership, name, etc. A boat might be out on the banks, but the COD could still be good if the annual paperwork is being completed. The COI usually requires an actual Coast Guard visit (and fee) and entails much more work to renew. Now, getting a new COD requires some work..
Just got our's (COI) renewed today. Next year will be the last.
We just got our Attraction Vessel COI re-instated on the Barbara H last month, after 3 years without. So we are getting ready to operate again. Only delay now is after 3 years of not operating, everything needs new paint!
Steve, that's great news! Looking forward to seeing the BARBARA H. running again.
