Good afternoon one and all in steamboat land,
I realize we are still a little ways away from the return of the Great Steamboat Race but wanted to see if there was any buzz in Louisville about it being a three boat "race" this year with the return of the AQ. Will the race course be any different as years past because of the sheer size of the AQ. Can't wait to see how she and the other two boats will get turned around all in the same stretch of river. Will the shore components (crew competitions) of the race happen again this year? I'll be riding one of the Belle's and hope to get some good pictures. Looking forward to a day of steamboat in the coming weeks and hope to maybe see a few familiar faces in Loeyville!

Great Steamboat Race 2012
Go to the website of the Kentucky Derby Festival by clicking on Kentucky Derby Festival and then to the events section where you will find Great Steamboat Race. All of the details on purchasing tickets, etc., are there, but you have to do some "wading" to get to the information!
Yes, the "race" will involve the BELLE of LOUISVILLE, AMERICAN QUEEN and BELLE of CINCINNATI. Go to WDRB 41 Louisville - News, Weather, Sports Community - Home and type in GREAT STEAMBOAT RACE 2012 into the site search box for a listing of all the steamboat race events which include a monkey fist toss, calliope contest, line throwing, bourbon barrel retrieval, etc.
