I've just received an e-mail reading:

I received a wonderful 16 minute DVD in the mail, of the Delta Queen bringing Captain Fred Way's ashes to Sewickley, PA to be buried there in the Sewickley Cemetery. However, there was no address given, no note, just an address from St. Paul, MN. Would you be able to help me with this as a GREAT BIG "Thank You!" is necessary!
Thanks so much for all your help. This is a PRICELESS find! So many people on the film are now gone. What a jewel this is.
Grateful Mim Bizic

I'm very curious! Does anyone know where this DVD comes from? And are there copies around for purchase?

Franz and Mim,

The DVD in the mail came from my son Jonathan, who got his copy from me, and I in turn received that copy of the original recording from Oct. 9, 1992, made by Tony Martin, drummer on the DQ for many years. Tony had read Jonathan's posting on this board in regard to Capt. Way, and since he had recorded this event that night, he contacted me via phone to ask whether I would like a copy. Of course I did, and when Jonathan was home last week we made a duplicate for him, another copy of which he mailed to Mim. You can get a DVD copy from me (for which Tony gave his permission) or you may contact him directly, as he said that he would be willing to make additional copies for those interested. Tony's address is:

2617 Riverbluff Pkwy. Sarasota, FL 34231
His e-mail address is: [email protected]

I believe Jonathan has been in e-mail contact with Ms. Bizic within the past day.

Good guess

I had emailed Franz this morning that the St. Paul sender was likely to be Jonathan, but I didn't know how he would have gotten that video. You have provided that info. How is Tony Martin these days?

Tony says he is doing well, and still plays with groups in the area. He gets periodic updates on the boats and former crew members from Fred Dodd. In addition to sending a copy of his DVD, Tony also sent along a photo of a much younger DQ watchman that he snapped on the head of the boat in St. Louis in 1978. Needless to say, it was a very pleasant surprise to hear from Tony after all these years!
