Good luck and best wishes to those trying to save the GOLDENROD for future generations, but please know the MAJESTIC in Cincinnati was until recently an operating showboat. The GOLDENROD is not alone, and both showboats are National Historic Monuments. Like the GOLDENROD the MAJESTIC's future is uncertain, and hopefully, the MAJESTIC's owner The City of Cincinnati will not let her deteriorate to the same state that her Missouri counterpart is in.

Interesting piece

This is indeed an interesting TV piece which hopefully will generate more interest. It is good to see Jake, who represents a younger generation with interest in the bygone days. Despite the decrepit exterior, the interior looks surprisingly good, at least what is shown in the video. It is too bad that the statement was so boldly made though about it being the only remaining showboat. While that might make some people think it more important to save than if they knew there were two left, it does slight the MAJESTIC. There is room on the big river system for both. Great job, Jake, in getting this piece done.

Goldenrod and Majestic Showboats

Yes Two of a kind and apparently the last 2.I missed the brief tv show on the Goldenrod. Will it be rerun? So now we have 3 that need saving, The Delta Queen The Goldenrod The Majestic.Does anyone know if City of Cincinnati is doing anything regarding the Majestic? Thanks to Wayne White for keeping us posted esp.regarding the fundraisers an Jake Medford to congratulate you on keeping the project going after the untimely death of your mentor in August 2014.Yes The Goldenrod looks better inside than out and thanks Judy for posting that.Guess that is about it as I have been forwarned by 2 members on this site not to get too hopeful but I see all three boats all refurbished all beautiful an all back to work so to speak.Long live the riverboats.Carole Matthews Pompano Beach Florida 33064 Thanks for reading.

I will pass on your concerns regarding the MAJESTIC and how that looked toward those who also support that showboat as well. I mention the Majestic as well when talking about the goldenrod and her history. I can assure you that I'm well aware of the MAJESTIC and her story .I try to keep up on what her status is as well. You have to understand that i have nothing to do with the media side of things at this point. I'm the one behind the scenes doing the dirty work. Before we gained our caretaker team i was the one that spent countless hours aboard the boat sealing up windows and countless other things trying to protect her from more damage from the weather.I was present that day when that piece was filmed but i didn't see how it was all put together until it aired. So i had no input as to what was said or used before it aired. I apologize to those who were offended and i will make your concerns known to those who are in charge of the media side of things. I do appreciate your input on that and will try to make sure that doesn't happen again. The point that was trying to be made was the Goldenrod is the oldest showboat, the largest and the last operating showboat on the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Everyone have a great day and i do appreciate the feedback it will be forwarded to those in charge.
Sincerely Wayne White
