I was just curious as to why a boat that never leaves the shore now still requires a captain and crew.
Not coming out as a attack on anyone, so please don't take it that way.
Also, do they give any tours of the boat? I don't gamble, so I don't have a better excuse to go aboard. Wish I had lived here when they ran her out on the river, would have been nice to see. To nice a boat to just be tied to the bank all the time.
Fish Purses ...
The boat has a Captain and Crew because the gaming laws of the State of Indiana wisely require them.
Tours are not normally given, but if you are at least 21 years of age, you can come aboard free of charge and enjoy one of the most handsome casino vessel ever built; done in the style of the classic Post Civil War steamboat period. You are welcome to walk around any of the public areas, and Level 3 and 4 have outside access to enjoy seeing the authentic riverboat exterior and the beautiful Ohio River at Mile 506. Level 4 has tables with umbrellas and chairs. On the weekends, The Tiki Deck (4 Aft) has Indiana's only outdoor gaming activity with a Tiki Bar open for refreshments.
Every morning at exactly 0730, the GV2 sounds her three-chime Crosby CHEROKEE whistle. You can set your clocks by the precise whistle; one of the most beautiful whistles still heard on the river, as it has been since 1877.
Thanks for the information. After the lil one starts school I'll have to come over and check that out. I see her from the outside every week and always wandered what she looked like on the inside.
I live in the country outside Rising Sun but have had the chance to hear that whistle. Helping out in the church sound room during the week and hear the whistle from there. Like that better than the bells we play. Wonder who would try to kill me first if i swapped the bell program for one of the Whistle Blow CD's? lol.
