A hearty whistle salute and a steamy, offkey calliope rendition of HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Capt. Alan Bates today in celebration of his 39+ birthday!
Keep up steam Alan and keep rollin' on the river! Hugs to Miss Rita too!
Froehlicher Geburtstag!
A blast on the Alphorn to Capt. Alan, aka architect Lawrence A. - a man of many facets !

Thanks for Judy's posting RE: Alan's B-day! I add my greetings and best wishes for another 'double 39+ years.
Packing up here now in 'Ragtown' to head north for the summer. I'm on computer up in the wild north woods and will be on line there after Wednesday. The bear a nuisance there already with warnings out to all. Grrrrrrr!

Dale is correct that I posted about Alan's birthday. However, I merely posted as a reply to Keith Norrington's thread starter. Keith is the unofficial birthday keeper of the river world and gives us the alerts.
A very happy birthday wish to the phenomenal architect who gave us the beautiful Str. NATCHEZ and Str. CHAUTAUQUA BELLE...not to mention scads of diesel riverboats. Here's a toast to your tireless work to keep the love of the river and the boats of it alive and running!
May you celebrate many, many more and share your love of the river with us all!

Happy Birthday to Captain Bates. Hope to see you around at some river event soon. Missed you on the Propeller Club outing.
Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag, Alan!

Alan: Day late etc...We know about 39s here on Gunpowder Road. MISS DEMEANOR is 39 this year too...along with MISS BLUE who is 39 + 62 this year. Hope you had a happy day. We'll blow a long and two shorts for you as soon as we can get steam up. Cap'n Walnut.

A blast on the alphorn that you made and so graciously gave me many long years ago. It does sound good in the mountains. (Sorry, my German is highly limited. Will have to stick to the Queen's lingo.) In plain English, may you have MANY more.
HBD Captain Bates. We'd close down the Rabbit Hash Shipyard in celebration, but since we haven't reopened since closing last May 19th for Camp Day, we'll retire to the General Store for a sarsaparilla in yer honor. SALUTE!
