Will be on the first cruise of the AQ April 13 (departing NO on Friday the 13th !!!).

Does anyone have the radio frequencies used by the riverboats out of New Orleans northward? Somewhere I had these when I chased the DQ on the last run southbound from Oak Alley, but lost them.

Thanks

Richard Reiff

Radio frequencies

Its Channel 67 in the New Orleans harbor, with chatter on 68.

Judy is correct, Richard. If a boat goes west of NO in the ICW, they will be on channel 13. Ditto if they go above Devil's Swamp Light above Baton Rouge. If a boat goes east of NO, they will be on channel 16.

Channel 67

So 67 is used up through Baton Rouge, right Bob? I thought so, but its been a while since I've been above NOLA... Are you on the river now? I thought of you yesterday as I crossed the Illinois at Peoria. Both times there was a tow approaching the bridge, but they were hopper barges and about 12, not the configuration I remember you pushing.

I got off (at Memphis!) on Dec. 23rd, and so was home for Christmas. I had been on the Illinois and was thankful we had no ice to deal with. We had one of the best Christmases in quite a while, and are looking forward to New Years with 2 parties to go to, etc.

Yes, channel 67 is used from the Head of Passes to about 10 miles above Baton Rouge, where channel 13 is used almost everywhere else, except the Arkansas River, which is channel 16. The Tenn-Tom and the Black Warrior-Tombigbee are also on channel 16 for traffic, etc.
