Greetings From Plaquemine , La. !
The mega giant chemical company Dow is now experimenting with the possibility of creating hydro electricity , powered by the river current of the Mississippi River , at its Plaquemine , La. facility !
First of all , I grant you the idea of hydro electricity is as old as the hills but this concept has been elevated to a new level and was note worthy enough for the " Powers That Be " , in the Baton Rouge newspaper , The Morning Advocate to take note of this project and bring it to the attention of the Greater Baton Rouge citizens !
The shots I am presenting is a prototype and I am told that if this does actually produce the expected out come and volume of electricity , a larger one will be constructed and put into service .
Furthermore , would this same concept not work in other river towns and especially those communities at or near a lock and dam where these units could be put in place also in the river's current and become another source of cheap , clean and affordable electricity ?
