Well, how 'bout that! If anyone cares, my next cruise tickets came a few weeks ago and say QUEEN ELIZABETH 2.

Thank you, Sandy. I've been on the QE2 before, and, yes, I will enjoy her. The first time as a college student when steam was driving her across "Cunard's Pond." Last year during one of her famous winter North Atlantic crossings I was safely housed in a Queens Grill room for much less than the recently quoted price for a week long trip in a bunk bed room on the DELTA QUEEN. I've also been on the QE2 through the Panama Canal.

The DQ, MQ and QE2 all have family ties. Both the DQ and QE2 have their start on the River Clyde in Scotland. The MQ and QE2 both came to life on the drawing board of the same British marine architect Jamed Gardner.

Well....I was pretty empressed with my Doc's...As a X TA...I remember how sometimes we would rate a new cruise or tour company on the docs they presented our clients...on a 1-10 scale...I would rate these a strong 9.

I do have a question for (David) or anyone who has been on the DQ the last few weeks...On our tickets it basically said we would be in ports from 8am to 1pm....Are these the actual times?

Sandy, Port times are actual times, give or take a few hours ;-). Steamboatin' just isn't that regimented. From what I have seen and to be politically correct port times are "suggested"...it's more like "sit back and relax...we'll get there when we get there...and we'll leave whenever..."

You're gonna have a ball...and if you're up in the Texas, give Anne a hug for me...What the hey, give all the crew hugs for me and Deb. These upstate New Yorkers are a little green right now, if you catch my drift...

Bruno...I just don't like the port times so short...and then missing out on Breakfast and lunch..LOL
BTW my partner is from upstate...Lake George...His sister lives in Troy and arrived here in California yesterday to get warmed up...or maybe blown away with all the wind were having.

Sandy, miss out on breakfast and lunch? The crew would never do that, definitely would create a mutinous situation amongst the passengers. Breakfast starts at 6 for continental in the Forward Cabin Lounge and if I remember 7 to 7:30 for buffet and menu service in the Orleans Room. Lunch in the Orleans is from, I think, 11:30 to 1:30? As I said before, the DQ is so laid back that I have never commited the meal times to memory.

Trust me you will not miss a meal, but after the third or fourth day you may elect to miss random meals on purpose...I'm still struggling with my weight from my last go around with the Orleans Room.

And for a bunch of ports, I suspect that the DQ will be docked long before 8am, long before you wake up.

Getting warmed up from the New York cold? Tell me about it...a little bit of white stuff today...

I asked about port times sometime back. What I was told was that arrival time was when the passengers were let off the boat, and the departure time was when they needed to have you back to avoid being left behind.

Hi Sandy,

If you ever get on the AQ, my pal Phil Westbrook works the Captain's Bar (piano bar). He was born and raised in Troy.

Hmm, well I was always up--even without figuring out how to set them new-fangled alarm clocks (which was easy to do, once I actually READ the instructions on the inside cover of the cabin book!
Even up that early, I often only made it to breakfast in the last half-hour. Soo much to see!!!
I know, I got it real bad. . ..

Hi Sandy,
Sorry, was at work all day today. As Bruno said, port arrival/departure times are subject to river conditions, and passengers being late by staying in the Cario Gunboat Museum too long (WHOOO, MEEEE???). It's Steamboatin' and some things are just done "whenever"! ENJOY!!
Right now trying to figure out how to get back on board!
