Saw a little notice on a bulletin board at a local coffee shop about the 2nd Annual John Hartford Memorial Festival being held at Bill Monroe Memorial Music Park and Campground in Bean Blossom, Indiana, on May 31 - June 2. Any of you living in that part of the country and are Hartford and/or bluegrass fans, take note. Sounds like a winner. How did the notice get to Leadville? I think one of the bands is from Colorado. Website is John Hartford Memorial Festival . Nice steamboat engraving at top of the web page. Where is Bean Blossom?
About 15 miles north of Nashville, IN. Nashville, IN. is between Columbus and Bloomington, IN. Columbus and Bloomington are in the 21st. Century, Nashville is still in the 20th Century. Bean Blossom is good example of Brown Co. IN. in the 19th Century. Until the mid 1930's, Brown Co. only had 3 paved roads and was very resistent to becoming part of the rest of the state of Indiana. Interesting place.
I had the festival marked on my calendar last year, but didn't make it. I'm afraid this year is worse, with the new grandbaby, that I have to go all the way from Southern Indiana to Atlanta to visit.
Well, at least Bean Blossom will not be affected by the great power grid meltdown.
