Hey Eric,
Thanks for posting this info. My first guess would be that this is insurance renewal related. If not then perhaps JBS has a leak. Would be nice if the reason was due to a potential sale but as we all know, the boat isn't for sale. Please post more if you hear more on this.

Julia Belle update
Hello all:
Thought some of you might be interested in a few photos I snapped of the JBS, which was put up on the Brennan drydock today. Unfortunately these were with the cam on my phone, so I apologize for the quality in advance.
Remarkably, in my humble and relatively undereducated marine opinion, the hull appeared to be in pretty good shape and the rudders looked brand new. (Architects and engineers, on this board, may be able to see that this really is not the case-even with my crummy pics) There are a few fairly rotted buckets on the wheel. While the bulk of the superstructure is in bad need a good paint job, I saw no visible signs of any major deterioration, and little to no rust of any consequence. To me this seems surprising given the fairly harsh winters the past 3 years along with bare bones maintenance at best.
I also spoke with a gentleman from the local IDEAL CRANE office, who seemed reluctantly charged with babysitting her. While our conversation was very brief today, he did indeed confirm Aaron R's earlier assertion that the vessel is NOT currently for sale. I believe this is just a routine hull inspection, but I will look further into that tomorrow.
Will put additional pics in a second posting

JBS
The pix look fine to me during this dark and stormy night - would that something would be done regarding putting the JBS back into service. I can't believe that her original LaCrosse schedule of 2 day trips to Winona and Prairie du Chien wouldn't sell well now with no overnight boats running. The obvious question is the condition of her innards, but as you say, the hull looks darn good considering.
Eric, please keep us posted! This is by far "the most near and dear" boat for me.....Thanks for pics
Any updates as of winter 2011?? What are the owners saying? Thanks!
Liam
JBS
Absolutely nothing on the JBS, which is still in LaCrosse last report.
It would be nice to know what is up with the boat. Wonder if the owner has any plans for her. What is left of her? Could she ever sail again? There are so few Dubuque-built boats left sailing. It is not because they weren't built right. The JULIA BELLE SWAIN is the most beautiful of all the Dubuque-built boats. It is a shame to see her going the way of the MISSISSIPPI QUEEN, BECKY THATCHER, ADMIRAL, PRESIDENT, MARY WOODS No#2 and many others which have recently met their demise. Every lottery ticket I buy has the JULIA BELLE's name on it...just hoping!
Thought
May be he will follow the Kalakala and sell her for $1 on the condition she is restored...
Eric, You won't see any rust on the JBS superstructure because I believe it is all aluminium.
