Anybody know how many boats "La Crosse Riverboat Co" made ?
I'm not sure there is a simple answer for that question. La Crosse Riverboat Company built, owned and operated several boats. I have some info in my notes that I will share:
LaCrosse Riverboat Company, owned by Paul Sayther, apparently began their excursion business with their original LACROSSE QUEEN (1964-1981), which had formerly been the PRAIRIE GAL (built 1963 by Dubuque Boat & Boilerworks), which was a duplicate of the LADY M.
(Second) LACROSSE QUEEN (1982-2000):
BUILT: 1982 at LaCrosse, Wisconsin by LaCrosse Riverboat Company, Limited; hull built by Mannstedt and Sons. Superstructure completed by LaCrosse Riverboat Co.
FINAL DISPOSITION: Sold to Charger Company in Beaumont, Texas (in 2003?).
Sent to Fairbanks, Alaska for the Yukon River tourist trade.
OWNERS: Big Indian Boat Lines (Paul Sayther), LaCrosse, Wisconsin
OTHER INFORMATION: Christened on May 25, 1982. She replaced the original LaCrosse Queen. Her sister ship was the MISS LACROSSE (see below).
(Third) LACROSSE QUEEN (2000- 2008?? ):
Built by Skipperliner and completed in 2000. Still active as of 2008 season.
MISS LACROSSE (sister to second LACROSSE QUEEN):
Vessel Name (as of 8/7/12): CANANDAIGUA LADY
Builder: LA CROSSE RIVERBOAT CO
Year Built: 1984
Hull: 64.8' x 20'
Gross Tonnage: 33
Net Tonnage: 27
Hailing Port: CANANDAIGUA NY Hull Depth (ft.): 4
Owner: SARAH-FRANK LLC, 1850 ROCHESTER RD, CANANDAIGUA, NY 14424
There was also a "La Crosse Boatworks Company" which seems to be the same as La Crosses Riverboat Company. According to my "LaCrosse Boatworks" notes, they also built the following boats (Matthew, note that some of this info comes from your previous posting!)
Pearl of the Lake: 100 Central Point Road Lake City, MN 55041
Cancun Queen: Cancun Mexico
Lantern Queen: 100 Congress Avenue Havre de Grace, MD 21078
Tahoe Queen: Lake Tahoe
Cypress Belle: Cypress Gardens in Florida
Tanana Chief: Fairbanks,AK
Victorian Princess:1030 West Bayfront Parkway Erie, PA 16507
Riverboat Saloon: 5860 Old Route 22 Bernville, PA 19506
Canandaigua lady (mentioned above): 205 Lakeshore Drive Canandaigua, NY 14424
Bavarian Belle: 925 South Main Street Frankenmuth, MI 48415
Star of Knoxville: 300 Neyland Drive, Knoxville, TN, 37902
Princess Kay: W1147 River Bay Rd, Lyndon Station, WI 53944
Amalie Queen: once served as the ferry for the Frenchman's Reef Hotel on St. Thomas. It was washed ashore on Water Island during Hurricane Hugo in 1989.
So if you total all the boats that presumably were built/completed by Paul Sayther's company(s)... the answer to your question might be 13 boats built and 1 partial build.
Any corrections/additions to my info is welcome..
