Thanks to you for accepting me in to your community. Years ago I was a young man with big dreams and wide eyes as I discovered a hulk of rusting beauty of a vessel at Tucker Marine in Cincinnati . It was the Bayer Island I drove to it and by as often as I could until one fateful day that it was gone and the local paper featured a story about how a man was buying her and renaming her.I saw her again at Tall Stacks some years later and she was just beautiful but again I lost her . Until recently a google search brought information that in 2007 she had been stuck and sunk and many people were offering suggestions about how to recover her and great info about her.Which brings me to today, does anybody know of her fate and or location. This information will bring me either new found hope or closure. Thanks in advance for you help.

The last record I have of LELAND DAVIS is that it was sunk Aug. 13, 2006 at Boonesboro, Ky., Lock 10, on the Kentucky River. I do not know who owned it at that time.
Steve Huffman will probably add more details.

The info I have for the BAYER ISLAND / LELAND DAVIS is:

"Tucker Marine sold the BAYER ISLAND in 1992. The new owners harbored the boat on the Kentucky River, near Lock 10, at Boonesboro.
The boat was renamed LELAND DAVIS. It sank at its dock near Boonesboro on Aug 13, 2006.
By July '07 the boat was owned by Sterling Stanfield.
Sterling emailed on 7/24/07 looking for ideas on how to raise the boat.
Larry Barber purchased the wreck in late summer '07, but did not attempt to raise the boat until '08. Success unknown as of 10/05/08."

I have no new information. I presume they hauled her up the riverbank, or she is still sunk. Either way she was a total loss. Here are some photos from July '07.5042.jpg5043.jpg5044.jpg
