It's official: Our video won the Royal Caribbean "Reporter at Sea" contest (Reporter at Sea - Royal Caribbean Video Contest - Der perfekte Job für Carmen). In just two weeks we'll be boarding the the OASIS OF THE SEAS at Fort Lauderdale, FL!
Thank you so much for your wonderful support. Without your votes we'd never made it. We're so excited.
Now, if Internet connections on the ship are strong enough and if there are no restrictions from RCI, I'll be blogging live from the Oasis at www.cruisetricks.de. It'll be in German, but there will be a rough English translation available; and I hope that we can post mostly pictures as that's what everyone wants to see from this fascinating new ship anyway.
Again, thanky you all so very much for your support. We love you all!
Carmen & Franz
Well, a BIG congratulations to you both! I'm so happy you won! Enjoy yourselves to the fullest!
I wrote on Carmen's facebook wall already, but I'm more than happy to say it again. Congrats for winning!! You two really deserve it for everything you do for us here on dot.org. I am definitely looking forward to the pictures from this one 🙂
You won; how wonderful! You had a lot of good folks rooting (and voting) for you.
Right now I've read that the OotS is in or just got out of one of the North Atlantic's notorious winter storms. Hopefully, things settle down because I board the R.M.S. QUEEN MARY 2 in New York tomorrow for a crossing. Otherwise my traveling partner might get a bit green! 😉
By the way, if any one here has ever thought about a crossing, the QM2 is departing New York City on January 4, 2010 for a seven night trip to Southampton. The fares are HEAVILY discounted with an inside room starting at $499.00 double occupancy.
A voyage on a Cunarder is great fun, and has all of the tradition and history that the DELTA QUEEN has. And if you come along, and let me know, you'll be invited into one of the biggest darn staterooms afloat for cocktails. The Butler's pantry alone in the room is larger than the bunk bed rooms on the DQ's Texas!
Congratulations Carmen & Franz! Bon Voyage!
Congratulations you TWO
... but I suspect there is one unhappy camper in your household. I presume Leonie has to stay home due to school. Better take an extra suitcase to hold her souvenirs!
Happy cruising. Have fun.
Thanks to all of you for your support!
Yes, Judy, you´re right, someone has to stay back home and go to school. We already have taken orders of what to bring back home :-).

Click, click!
Ever since Franz pointed out that the ads on .org don't generate any revenue unless we click on them, I try to remember to click on at least one a session, and have found some interesting things. I'll be clicking a bit more now in hopes that it will build up Leonie's "My parents went to the US to cruise and all they brought me was...." Fund!
