The President Madison Motel, long a fixture on the Madison, Indiana riverfront near the bridge, changed ownership in February and is undergoing renovation. The old motel will be renamed THE RIVERBOAT INN. The new owner, Kathie Petkovic, a realtor who recently moved to Madison from Santa Rosa, Florida, has made 35 trips on the former DQ Steamboat Company boats. When completed in mid-April, the rooms of THE RIVERBOAT INN will be decorated in a steamboat theme and a new restaurant will be known as THE PILOTHOUSE.
Sounds like we need to revive the BELLE's Madison weekend with a stay at the President Madison again! I wonder if the new owner knows about all the steamboating 'ghosts' who have stayed there?
Madison has always been one of my favorite stops. They've done a remarkable job of preserving their old downtown ambience. The shops and restaurants are warm and welcoming and, of course, there's that restaurant serving those little tiny hamburgers that Capt Shultz loves so much. (I forgot the name, but it begins with an "H").

I'm glad someone is doing something with the President Madison Motel. Great location, and looks nice from the outside, but it has always been a dive on the inside.

Kathie has some 'good orderly direction' on her new challenge. You all will do her a big favor by stopping by and saying hello and wishing her well. She is a true "fan" and puts her money where it counts, right next to her heart!
God bless her, Dick Karnath
Hey, since you can't be reached by email, I was wondering if you're up in Winona in a snow drift, or what? Not quite motorcycle weather yet! [email protected]
