In today's newspaper story, the previously-mentioned move of part of Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World is told in greater depth. Not only will it be using the Robin St. Wharf, but also the River City Casino complex just upriver at the Celeste/Orange St. wharf. They had built a huge indoor complex for the gambling boats, including a plantation home, in this area. How much is still in place, I know not. But it is a huge building compared to the DQ's Robin St. area. And this article points out that the Creole Queen will be operating trips from this complex. It will be interesting to see if she shuttles pax to the Westbank World or does a regular excursion. She has been laid up for the most part at Canal St. since Katrina, only doing an occasional charter or daytrip. Her sister boat, the Cajun Queen, was sold to out of town interests.

All in the Family

The CREOLE QUEEN may be the "sister" of the CAJUN QUEEN, but she is the "mother" of the GVII, formerly QUEEN OF NEW ORLEANS / FLAMINGO. Magnificant boats, those gals.

Dear Sam, I am confused! I KNOW GVII was the FLAMINGO but NOT the QUEEN of New Orleans! I think she is at a point up NORTH as a dinner boat? I think either Chicago or perhaps in Boston Harbor? I did have some pics of the Qof NO, but they were donated to the Waterways journal by me in 2001. I have also heard that the NEW Corporate Headquarters for the 3 Queens is in St. Louis. How true is that?

Allan,

please check previous message board postings before posting nonsense. It's just a few weeks ago that we discussed the fate of the FLAMINGO ( http://www.steamboats.org/forum/showthread.php?t=996 ) and in these postings you can find the information that the official name of the FLAMINGO was indeed QUEEN OF NEW ORLEANS.

The information about the Majestic America Line's operational headquarters in St. Louis was posted here a long time ago. Again, please use the search function instead of repeating thins that had been posted here before.

Thanks.
