If you have a USCG license, and it is current for Unlimited Tonnage, and if you also have an Unlimited Radar Observer endorsement with the same whistles and bells that would be acceptable on the DELTA QUEEN, and able to obtain an Indiana Gaming Commission license, then you can start working, pronto, on a beautiful 330' casino boat as a Bridge Mate on the beautiful Ohio River, Mile 506 (right across the river from Rabbit Hash).

Immediate opening for a qualified individual to start.

Starting salary: At least $48,000.00/yr.
Day-for-Day 12 hours schedule with two weeks on & two off.

Also: Medical and Dental after 90 days, 401K matching, Paid vacation, Bonus, Etc.

Calling Former DQDCo Licensed Masters and Mates

Cap'n Rip Ware often called the DELTA QUEEN the Old Folk's Home, meaning it was just right for retired, or semi-retired, licensed boatmen after they decided to slow down a bit. This job listing is sorta like that, too. It may not be the DELTA QUEEN, and not exactly easy money, but it is a grand boat with a mighty fine crew, and there are two Mate positions open for the right persons.

Sitting around the house can get old fast, so put that license back to work and come join us on the GV2 where the pilothouse patter is authentic steamboat stuff with John Hartford singing in the background, the coffee is steamboat style (strong), and the view of the river is magnificant and always changing.

You have such a good sales pitch that I'm ready to pack my bags. Especially that frosty picture. ('Long about this time of year, us Texans are sick and tired of hot weather.) At the time to which you refer when mentioning the Old Folks Home or Floating Old Folks Home, this not only referred to the officers but to the passengers, average passenger age being about 70 or so. I think some of those old folks rode the DQ constantly, trip after trip, because it was cheaper than a nursing home, and a whole lot more fun, I would imagine. If I was in the latter stages of Altzheimers, I would rather be on the DQ than in a nursing home.

Slot Still Open

The day-for-day (Two weeks on. Two off.) gives us time to work and time to do our own thing, whatever that may be. It's great to get a two-week's paid vacation every two weeks. So as Bob Barker said, "Come on down!" (Up in your case.)

By the way, we are docked across the river from where Cap'n Harry Louden was born.
