Special Steamboating Adventure on May 26th!

For all you steamboating fans, May 26, 2007 will be a special day on the Belle of Louisville! It’s the traditional opening day for the Belle’s summer season, and we’ll be kicking it off with a Packet Boat Run to Carrie Gaulbert Cox Park in Louisville, doing a shore landing, and making it possible for passengers to enjoy this year’s River Life Festival that will be taking place right next to the sailboat ramp where the Belle will be putting in.

While she’s at Cox Park, she’ll take a short 45-minute cruise as part of the festival’s events. Those that board at Louisville can either stay on the boat or join the on-land activities. When the short cruise is over, the boat will return to the Louisville waterfront.

If you were with us for our first Packet Boat Run in May, 2006, don’t hesitate to come on again in 2007. Every shore landing is an adventure, and there will be new exhibitors and performers at the festival too. This year, a buffet lunch will be available as an option on the round trip from Louisville. Advance reservations are required for the lunch.

Travis C. Vasconcelos will be on board for the round trip and short cruise, giving passengers a real steamboat-and-river experience, and he’ll be adding history, music, and the Belle’s calliope to the event. Come on board for a special cruise on a special boat. It’s steamboating at its best!

Boarding begins at 11:00 am, cruising is from Noon – 3:00 pm (or thereabouts). Tickets are: With the buffet - $25 adults, $24 seniors (ages 60+), and $15 children (ages 3 – 12). Sightseeing only (no buffet) - $15 adults, $14 seniors, $6 children. Call (502) 574-2992 or (toll free) 866-832-0011 for information and to make a reservation.
