HI all,
Well, it IS a river! We are fine, with our house 300 feet above and behind the dam. Right now things are looking better, although still not "stable" and rain is due in this week. Jean & Meredith Hathaway's home is above any flood area (well, unless the main dam gave way, and it's not in any danger at present) but they may have had to evacuate just because of their zip code. Dorothy & Lou Kissel's home is also above the dam, though not by much--they can see the dam from their backyard, I think--probably a football field away! I don't know any other Steamboatin' friends in the nearby area, although there are likely a few!
Thank you so much for the update. I sent you a private email last night, when I saw the situation on the news. So glad to know you and Linda are not in danger, and that none of the other steamboaters are either. I hope they're able to make repairs and avert any further damage.
Pics of the Dam area today
Thought you might want to see the effort to seal the problem before the next rainstorm arrives this week.
First pic is of the emergency spillway with the water about a foot below it.
Second is of the rock transload--the rocks come in from somewhere and then are loaded into smaller trucks or bags for the helos and from there to the dam
Third photo is of one of the rock trucks on its way to the dam.
Take care!

Thanks, David, for keeping us up to date!
Carmen
