I have been trying to get information on how to purchase 2007 S & D membership to give as presents for family members this Christmas. So far there has been no response from the email address that I have.
Since so many people here are current members, could somebody let me know the current procedure to set up new memberships?
Hi, Bruce:
Here's the address to direct your membership check to join SONS & DAUGHTERS OF PIONEER RIVERMEN.
TO:
Mr. Richard Prater, Secretary
602 Country Club Ave.
Ft. Walton Beach, FL 32547
Yearly membership for four issues of the S&D REFLECTOR is $20 for full membership and, if you desire, $1 extra for spouse, family members, children under 18.
Woody and Bee Rutter, after years of dedication as President/Editor and Secretary, have retired. A new editor for the REFLECTOR is expected to be seated in the near future. Thanks for your interest and welcome aboard.
Cheers,
R. Dale Flick

Bruce, I just saw your messsage re: S&D membership and was happy to see that Dale Flick jumped in and provided you with my address. In case you would like to give me a call to discuss what to do, here is my phone number:
(850) 864-5590. I look forward to talking with you.
Steamboating colleagues:
Glad to see that S&D's Secretary, Dick Prater, has signed on to Steamboats.org. Dick inherited an awesome mantle from Bee Rutter when he assumed the new position. Dick, grandson of the the late Capt. Jesse Hughes; brother to Lil Smith; 'original' crew member aboard the DELTA QUEEN on her arrival and other trips in 1947/1948, has expanded his duties. He has computertized all S&D membership in addition to handling all new/renewals for the organization. He is dedicated and professional. What could you expect? Capt. Jesse Hughes used to say, "Your duty is to duty."
Cheers,
R. Dale Flick
Thanks, Dale, for your kind words about my brother. I just wanted to add that he is also a pilot. He's not a river pilot (or chief mate, for that matter). He's a retired Air Force colonel (West Pointer) who not only taught math and physics at the Air Academy and Auburn but (something he is very quiet about) is also a very highly decorated C-130 pilot who flew many missions during the Viet Nam war. He's also a really REALLY nice guy. I am very proud of my big bro. Your S&D memberships are in good hands.
