I grew up in Ghent, Kentucky, which had a ferry crossing over to Vevay Indiana back when I was a boy. The Martha Graham. Yesterday around 6pm I'm at the river and I see a ferry going downriver. A bit unusual. I wondered where it was from and where it was going. I know there was some plans at one point to use a ferry during some stage in the Madison-Milton Bridge construction, but I believe they moved on to other plans.

Bill,
I'm downriver about 7 miles below Vevay/Ghent. Over the years I've seen a few of the Anderson ferrys go to Jeffersonville for inspection and/or repair. I didn't happen to see that ferry downbound Tuesday, but maybe it was one of the Anderson ferries heading for JeffBoat(?). Just a guess.

You're right, Madison bridge project was re-worked so they won't need a ferry, because it should only be closed for a week. But they might still have a ferry on standby for medical emergencies (Madison hospital ambulances that need to serve Trimble County, KY). I don't think they will close the bridge until September, when they move it into its final position.
