Keep those boatyard postings coming whilst I roam the country of the Rivers Siuslaw, Coquille, and Willamette - not exactly the Mighty Miss and the Beautiful Ohio, and the terrain is a bit different too. I'm heading out to visit my sister in Eugene Oregon, through which the Willamette flows. The Siuslaw and Coquille are enroute to the Pacific Ocean. I refuse to go eastward into the mountains - I've seen enough snow for this winter! One connection these rivers have to the UMR: Weyerhaeuser Denkmann, which started in Rock Island using timber from up the UMR, now floats some down these western rivers, as their headquarters are now in the northwest...

Oops, no password

Just got back from these rivers and I was unable to post in Oregon since I didn't know my password... usually the Siuslaw is full of fishermen, but it was absolutely empty this trip. I presume the salmon season is in the fall, hence the lack of activity. There were also no log rafts, as there are usually in the falll. River news back home while I was gone was a big ice jam on the Rock River which flooded homes which had never been flooded before. Preliminary guilt is being laid on the new bridge piers, which apparently piled the ice up and therefore backed up the waters into the new territory. This is about 3 miles from the confluence of the Rock with the Mississippi.

The tundra up the crick is melting fast...we had several days above freezing with bright sunshine....

So far the upper Rock is well within it's banks, which is more than I can say for the apron of my driveway!!!

There has been some localized flooding all over the state with the thaws...namely the Fox River in Racine & Kenosha counties...that drains into the Illinois @ Ottawa...

Even though the ice gorge has broken up and the water has receded from its peak, the Rock is still out of its banks here. I suspect this is going to be a high water spring on all our creeks up here. At least the AQ isn't scheduled until July this year.
