Enroute home from Louisville today I stopped off in Peoria to make my final payment for our July 24-28 Peoria/St. Louis round trip on the SPIRIT. Capt. Alex came into the office and invited me to take a look at the redecorated Main Deck - new gold embossed wallpaper, and new carpeting with gold leaves, very attractive. They go out on their first 3 day St. Louis trip this weekend. The river is high, and the Mississippi at St. Louis is projected to be at 30 ft. when they arrive. So they will literally be letting the passengers off at the foot of the Arch! We still have about 21 in our Rambling River Rats group and there is room for new passengers on the 5 day trip starting on Saturday July 24. If you'd like more info, either email me [email protected], or check the SoP website Mississippi River Cruises, Illinois River, Paddleboat, Paddlewheeler. The more the merrier! As I was driving back toward the I-74, I noticed the top of another boat sticking up over the wall upriver from the SoP. It was the NIAGARA PRINCE, I believe. I couldn't see the whole name, but that's what it looked like. I didn't see any activity aboard, so I don't know if it was between trips or what. For those of you already signed up for the RRR trip, don't forget to make the final payment in the near future, and if you haven't booked your hotel rooms yet, best hop to it. The night we return is quite full due to a softball tournament in town, but check out places on I-74 near Northwoods Mall, like the Baymont, Red Roof, Extended Stay America, etc. Just about 9 weeks until departure!
Judy, somebody had better make a phone call to Tom Dunn at Gateway Arch Riverboats. The floodgates are up, Lenore K. Sullivan Blvd. is covered and closed. ADMIRAL closed. River to crest at 34.7 or thereabouts. Can SPIRIT OF PEORIA get under Eads Bridge at this stage? More heavy rain forecast Thursday.
SoP to St.L.
It will be Monday when the SPIRIT arrives, maybe, in St. Louis. Hopefully the crest happens as forecast this week and things drop - rapidly! I don't know what clearance the SoP needs, but I know they are concerned.
