The MISSISSIPPI QUEEN is currently under tow, somewhere on the LMR between New Orleans and ?????????. Headed to ??????? The name of the boat towing it is ????????
We recived good reporting on her departure and since she has just seemed to vanish.
I can wreck a towboat on the UMR and people are calling me about it before we have lines out.
There is a, in my opinion, a major and final event in a Steamboats history taking place and not one word in the last 12 hours.
Lets get our nosey butts out there and find out what's going on.
Sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Geez, Fred, got to get a little sleep sometime!
The last report I got from the NATCHEZ was that she was at the Todd/Avondale repair dock in Algiers yesterday - posted a pix of that. I haven't heard anything today, but I was planning to call the pilothouse as soon as they made the turn down by the Chalmette ferry. The tugboat that was pulling her on Thursday was the MISS KELLY, and I don't know the name of the towboat trailing her. They both appear in the pix at Todd. Are you down in the NOLA harbor now?
Update - the telegraph is fixed!
Straight from the NATCHEZ pilothouse at 12:25PM: the MQ is waiting at the bottom of the General Anchorage to enter the Algiers Lock. She was at the Todd dock last night but is now down a couple miles, waiting to try again... as to why she was at Todd, still an epic fail!
According to AIS the M/V Miss Kelly is still in the Harvey Canal. I'll go with the eyes on contact. I am currently tied off across from Bonnie Carrie at Taft. Heard some radio chatter yeasterday with the boat at Buck Kriech (sp) dock preventing some boats from docking.
