I'm still waiting on someone who has cruised on the AQ this season. Surely you are out there somewhere. I gather from most of the posts that the DQ is the boat of choice but, I would love to hear from anyone who has cruised on the AQ. I have a cruise coming up and was just curious how things were on the old girl.
I agree I leave on 4/6 I was hoping some one would have posted something now after 4 trips. Does any one have information?
Sally and Robert, I have not cruised on the AQ, so cannot tell you anything about service, officers and crew, etc., but I was aboard the boat a couple of times through the winter, and they have done a really fantastic job of fixing her up. I then saw the boat from the outside after she moved back to N.O., and that boat looks good.
Thanks Bob that's good to know I have been on the AQ for 6 cruises the last one in 2005 I just hope they keep the interior as much the same as possible. It was like a trip back in time
We were on the first cruise. I can only relate what we had in an E category room. There was a big difference between the AQ and the DQ in that category. On the AQ we had top of the line toiletries, good bed frames and great pillow top mattresses, great towels, robes, a small LCD TV with lousy sound, phone , radio, automatic clock with inside and outside temperature, great shower heads that had hot water within a minute, big fluffy pillows and of course the duvets. The linen color scheme is all white. Overall it was very nice. I don't think that the carpets were new, but they were in good condition. The food was fancy, the presentation even fancier. For the most part it was very good but few regional dishes like in the past. Shrimp and oysters were served in a fancy presentation like shrimp on a skewer (very good) and Baked Oysters Rockefeller. Fish, beef and vegetarian dishes were available for most meals. The new dinner service is all white, not as heavy as the old china. We had the same great waiters as the old staff. Others had waiters that were not familiar with how things work on a boat. Overall it was much the same as the last time we cruised on the AQ except that some of the staff were new and learning what was expected of them. I’m sure that most of the problems have been worked out by now.
The AQ has a new exterior color scheme Dark blue, maroon, and white. Carmen posted some pictures.
Enjoy your “steamboatn’” cruise, it is still a boat, not a ship.
