I just visited lake Tahoe during the summer. Lovely scenery. I was amazed to find that there were 2 paddle boats on the lake. (One, the Tahoe Queen, was docked right out side of my hotel room.) I just love those two boats. Couldn't find much about them on the internet. Anywho the funniest thing happened. I guess that the TQ got stuck on a sand bar while pulling out of the dock, 15 mins. later the TQ was out on the lake. Well if anyone has any info on those great boats, I would be very greatful.

Thanks.... Caleb

The Tahoe Queen was built by LaCrosse Riverboats in 1983. Allowed 500 passengers. Size is 120'l x 30'w. Owened by Lake Tahoe Cruises. The other boat the M.S. DixieII was built by Skipper Liner in 1994. Allowed 600 passengers. Size is 104'l x 33'w. Owned by Travel Systems, Inc. Both boats were trucked in sections from the Mississippi to Tahoe. I remember the truck haul by Skipper Liner got national print and TV coverage.

Me and my cousin were standing behind the TQ when I got stuck on the sand bar. WOW what a current. It almost knocked me and him down. Oh and thanks for the site.

I designed a boat for use on Lake Mead for Jess Tucker. It was to be split down the center for delivery by truck. I don't believe it was built, a common fate for boating ideas. If all the preliminaries I've drawn had been built one could walk from Louisville to Madison, stepping from deck to deck. There would have been Rob't. E. Lee replicas on every river, creek and lake in the land! Ah, the trials of an arch-eye-tect.
