In trying to chase down the history of some boats in N. Phillip Norman's list I find that one of his sources was "The Newport Association of Newport, Ky, Capt. Wesley Hafer, manager; historical list of steamboats and tales of early navigation." I haven't been able to find any reference to this on the web. It could well have been out of existance for half a century. Does any one here have ideas about where I might find info from or about this group?

Is that the same group that met in the back room of the Westside Cafe, in Newport, where Captain Ernie Wagner hung-out during the off-seasons of the ISLAND QUEEN, AVALON, and DELTA QUEEN?

Don'no', were they meeting in the 1930s? Sounds like a sufficiently authoritative group.
