I don't believe Franz had this on the home page, but today, May 13th, is Keith Norrington's Natal Day. He arrived the same year the DQ ran through herself in Rock Island, so both the Ohio and UMR had significant events that year. Since Keith has no computer at home, he'll have to receive online greetings a day late. I'm sure he's busy eating chocolate cake, after a meal at Kingfish today anyway... a happy dreiundfunfzig to my partner in crime - I mean in 'acquiring' steamboat artifacts! Photos are a couple of unlucky moments during our 1981 UMR Safari, at Peoria and Clinton(OMAR).653.jpg654.jpg

Happy Birthday, Keith! I hope that there will be many more with many a steamboat daze inbetween. Don't worry, I won't reveal the year the "Cast Iron Monster" ran through herself for nuthin'!

Many THANKS for the birthday greetings! It's nice to be remembered by my river family. And I hope to see as many of you as possible next weekend at the Howard Steamboat Museum's annual spring festival!

What are the hours for the HSM festival? Heard that Flatboat Bela will be portraying Cap'n Nicholas Roosevelt; wonder if there wil be a Lydia? Hope to see you there.

The Howard Steamboat Museum's annual Chautauqua is on Saturday and Sunday, May 19th and 20th. Saturday hours are 10-6 and Sunday 10-4. Theme this year is "The 1937 Flood Remembered" and admission to the festival, which includes the mansion is $3, with children under 12 free. Judy Patsch, a loyal and LIFE member of the museum, will be "on deck" this year to help, as will Jo Ann Schoen. Ted Guillaum will again be our organ grinder, providing lilting tunes on the museum grounds. We are sorry that Pete Sisak, who planned to join us this year, will not be able to attend due to business which will keep him moored in Wisconsin. The weatherman promises a beautiful weekend. Y'all come!
