I thought I'd give everybody a heads up. Deb and I received a promotional offer from MAL on all their boats yesterday. There are special offers on all remaining cruises this year starting the beginning of May, every MAL boat , except the two DQ UMR trips beginning of July. I'm sure many of you got the promotion. But for those that didn't...

The thing that is interesting is that the special offer are two-fers for cruises through the end of June for the DQ, AQ and CQ. There are also two-fer offers for the Empress through the beginning of June and the Queen of the West through the second week in July.

Basically, you can cruise these fine boats for as low as $317 a night for the DQ ($1110 PP, 7 nights, G room, two cruises at this rate, Birmingham to Chattanooga, May 17th and Chattanooga to St Louis, May 24th), the AQ for $220 per night ($550 PP, 5 nights, K room, Memphis to St Louis, June 1st). What a deal...

Get 'em while they're hot. Port charges are not included in the above.

Carmen, some are close to two-fers. The prices below for the AQ are for K's, but I gotta believe the discount pecentage is the same for all stateroom categories...and of course I have to add the disclaimer that these prices do not include port charges.

July 28th, Minneapolis to St Louis, 7 nights, $1528 PP, 20% off
August 4th, St Louis to Cincinnati, 6 nights, $1099 pp, 30% off
August 10th,Cincinnati to Pittsburgh, 5 nights, $756 pp, 40% off
August 15th, Pittsburgh to Louisville, 7 nights, $1146 pp, 40% off
August 22nd, Louisville to Pittsburgh, 7 nights, $1146 pp, 40% off
August 29th, Pittsburgh to Cincinnati, 4 nights, $682 pp, 35% off

Thanks, Bruno,

I just checked the MAL website. And they are already showing the new discounted prices if you use the "Find a cruise" option and go for the particular cruise you´re interested in.

The one I´m interested in is still showing $1,500 pp for a J (those are the inside triples we need). And obviously there is no "discount" on that $150 per night for a third person (including children). So it would be $3,000 for the two of us plus $1,050 for Leonie which adds up to $4,050 for the three of us (minus 5% past passenger discount, plus port charges). Used to be nearly $6,000 when the new fares came out.

BTW, they added the shore excursions and implemented the deck plans (not as pdf-file as it used to be when the website was launched).

I received a brochure recently, and it got me to thinking about a cruise too.

The MAL website is still lousy. For how highly they think of themselves, their website stinks. One would think that they would continue to add new items. Only, that's not the case. They move slowly.

Funny because they have an office in Seattle and there are plenty of web designers there. My daughter called me recently about an office job opening there.

I could probably do better than they are doing. I design and maintain websites and I would never run one the way they do. For one, I would strive to make sure that the content was truthful and accurate. They are probably not convincing anyone to take a trip, with the garbage they are presenting right now. Their competitors are doing a much better job with their online content. The MAL paper brochures are better, but are still lacking. All I can say about these are to keep sending me the ones with the big discounts and maybe things will happen.
