Just learned the very UN-happy news that Capt. Lexie Palmore-McMillen, longtime friend to many of us, river pilot, steamboat buffette and artist extraordinaire, will NOT be able to journey from her Colorado home to be with us for the BELLE birthday celebration, due to suffering a broken hip.

Lex, we ALL were so looking forward to seeing you for this "river family reunion" and are so sorry for your mishap. Rest, recuperate and we'll hope to see you at future festivities somewhere on the big river.

Love and best wishes!

Oh that's horrible news Lexie.

At least with another Colorado winter almost upon us there is little to do but heal up with a bankie and hot cup of your favorite. Better now than being house bound in paradise in the summer now.

Pretty day today though isn't it.

Thanks for the concern

I would rather be snapping on some ski boots in a few months, and heading for the other L'ville in a few weeks. Rats.

Lexie,

Like so many of your other friends, sure am sorry that we won't have you in the midst of all the festivities and shenanigans with your fellow river rats during the upcoming Louisville shindig. We were really looking forward to you being a part of that. Of course, we wish you speedy healing and a full recovery.

You might have heard that my son Jonathan is moving to Boulder at the end of this year as part of his company's relocation. With him out there so far away from the River, I'll have to rely on you up in Leadville and Gabe down in Thornton to keep him in the channel and posted up with all the goings on in the river community. Take good care of yourself, Lexie. After way too many years, maybe I'll finally be able to pay you a visit one of these days, now that trips to Colorado are on my travel itinerary in the months and years ahead!

Crip replies

Sure hope Jonathan can find time to come see us over in the REAL mountains. Having never met him, I hope that he can do so. Another Colorado .orger is Ron Anderson over in the Summit area, where they have almost real mountains. The steamboat stateroom is always ready for visitors.
