A good friend and river man, Andy Cannava, recently retired and has a wood shop that is begging for a project. He is looking for a set of plans to build a Weaver skiff. He is familiar with them as he used and repaired them when he worked for Captain John Beatty. He would like to build one from scratch. In talking with John Fryant he did not have a set but would like one also. Thanks.
Kevin: The Ohio River Museum at Marietta used to have a yearly summer time project of building wooden skiffs of many different designs. Some were quite outstanding. The museum just might have a set of drawings. Woody Rutter worked on these skiff projects so might be another source. I'm sure Capt. Andy knows the Brookbank family at Higgensport, Oh and Capt. Don Brookbank has two Weaver skiffs in one of his barns, might physically copy off one of them. There also is a Weaver skiff on display at the Lock#34 Museum at Chilo.
I recieved the following from Captain Bill Barr regarding a source for Weaver Skiff plans:
"Boone Weaver’s skiff plans, templates, etc. are in the hands of Gordon Winebrinner who operates the Racine Plaining Mill just north of Middleport, Ohio on the river road." Thanks to Bill and Bill.
