We are wondering what Annie Lebeaux is doing these days. She was one of our favorite entertainers on the Delta Queen.
She's entertaining on the trains in the western part of the USA. For information on their vacations: www.grandluxerail.com or 800-320-4206.
She loves to hear from her fan club but doesn't have computer access that often while working- same as steamboat crew.
Cheers
Elaine
Lance, thanks for asking: I'm subbing for GrandLuxe for 6 weeks over the course of this year; I'll also be musical-directing "Chicago" in a big Salt Lake City production in the fall; if any of you are in Salt Lake during the first 2 weeks of October, I'll be onstage with the band, playing the original Broadway orchestrations. I hope to work on the Delta Queen again; I miss the boat, river, passengers & crew family--& it's nice to know I'm missed too.
Annie,
Great to hear from you. Isn't the Grandluxe the ex-American Orient Express? We've really wanted to travel on that train, but...And people think the DQ is pricey!
Debbie and I missed you something fierce on our June trip. And bingo just wasn't the same without the baseball stats.
Here's hoping you can make it back to the DQ soon and, if you would do me and Deb a favor, drag Walter, Jeff, Tony, Al and Tom back with you.
Thanks for the kind thoughts about us entertainers, Bruno. Yes, Am. Orient Express is now GrandLuxe Rail Journeys; I guess every li'l company gets bought these days...
Where indeed?...
Oh, no, not again!! Last Weds., while playing on the GrandLuxe train in the Pacific Northwest, I was shocked-- as was the rest of the crew-- when the v.p. came aboard & called a crew meeting at which he announced that the beautiful, historic train was ceasing operations forever and we'd all be flown home Friday. (We were.) And we have no idea if we'll be paid for those last 2 weeks. The current owner'd only had it 2 years, and before him it'd run since '95. I hate to see it go... I do look forward to playing on the lovely AQ on the upper Miss. from Sept. 20-Oct. 11, but if anyone has any "inside" ideas as to where I should apply to play beyond that, please write!
Re: GrandLuxe ending service, scroll down the list to "Rail cruise GrandLuxe bites the dust".
But onward and upward...
Yes, Jim, I saw that entry. I still don't know if I'll ever be paid the $1800 I earned in the last pay-period, and I bet others are in the same boat. Here at home in NYC, I'm amazed that only a week ago today, near beautiful Mt. Rainier, we were told of the demise; so many emotions in a blur since then! Within 4 months I've had 2 jobs end which I thought would go on and on (I played on the Empress this spring & was to play on her this fall, & was there when Captain Petersen learned that the lovely Empress's last week would be in early August...& Maj. Am. would end in the fall.) But onward and upward...
