Hey all,

I uploaded a couple of videos of the MISSISSIPPI QUEEN to YouTube tonight.

The first one ( MISSISSIPPI QUEEN Steam Calliope at Memphis, TN on 19 November 2006 - YouTube ) is Mr Hoyle Osborne playing at Memphis as the passengers were released to their rooms at 3:00pm for the final cruise of the 2006 season to New Orleans (what would be her last passenger carrying cruise ever and the last of her 30th season). As I listened to it tonight, I remembered how cool it was as this was filmed (with a pretty bad camera I might add...but, it captured as much as it could). The cool air mixed with the tone of the calliope give it an eerie moany sound...almost a tearful good bye to Memphis. I have to admit I almost teared up hearing it again after all these years.

The second one ( MISSISSIPPI QUEEN calliope at Oak Alley Plantation, Vacherie, LA 24 Nov 2006 - YouTube ) was filmed with the same camera (sorry for the quality again!) 5 days later at Vacherie, LA. I was walking back from the Oak Alley Plantation (visiting a friend of mine...a little kitty cat that lived there) and Hoyle was up at the console again! I got the camera out and caught what I could. Later that evening we were down about the Bonne Carre Spillway at dinner time and I fired up the calliope for what would be the last time it ever played aboard the boat. We landed at midnite at the old River City Casino landing (just above Robin Street Wharf, as they were dredging there at the time) and the rest is history.

Hope you all enjoy!

Travis
