Plans of the racer NATCHEZ are now available. They were drawn by Bernd Lorenzen of Northern Germany. These are excellent drawings, carefully researched and beautifully drawn of this famous sidewheel steamboat. There are eight sheets showing outboard profile, hull lines, plans of all decks, cross section, bow and stern elevation views and drapery details. Mr. Lorenzen has appointed John Fryant and Alan Bates as his agents for sales in the United States. See their catalogs under the Model Building guest sites in steamboats.org for prices.
Mr. Lorenzen has also made photographs of a "quickie" model of the boat for comparison with views of the prototype boat which verify the shapes and proportions with great accuracy.

Alan, Thanks for posting that information. Both of us are listing the Natchez plans for the same price - $50.00 per set and well worth it. Carmen, Franz, did you ever receive the copy of my new catalog that I sent about a month ago? Both Alan's and My web sites need updating. Sorry to have to notify you on this board, but I can't seem to get through to you any other way at the moment. Also my e-mail to Jon Tshiggfrie about the Alaska Queen got bounced back. Jon, can you e-mail me at at [email protected]

Thanks, all.

Steamboat model fans cannot imagine how it distresses me to raise the prices for my drawings. The cost of printing them has gone up. The worst cause of the price increase is that postal rates have been raised twice recently, concurrently with an inexcusable deterioration of service. As a matter of postal service history: when I first published the plans for the Indiana I was able to price them at $2.50 INCLUDING POSTAGE. Today the same drawings must be priced at $25.00, ten times that ancient amount.
