Haven't seen or heard any new updates on the AQ's final renovations in NOLA. Anyone have anything on the new wheel's construction?

Well, I hear if the wheel isn't ready in time they're gonna make the band get out and push. :O)

Hahaha Touché! ... I think a large red hamster wheel with the band running inside of it would be more of a spectacle. 😀

Taylor: WE have just that sort of thing down on the Cincy riverfront. Wish somebody would take the big fake away.

Bill: You've got the right idea! When was it installed on the waterfront?

Would you like to have our waterfront "sculpture" that looks like 2 pieces of curled and broken roller coaster tracks? Everyone who sees it asks if it was part of a roller coaster or what. It says nothing about Nashville, its heritage or history. You could have it cheap if you ask just about any Nashvillian. Just don't ask the mayor.

In our "historic district" of New Albany (founded in 1813) a sculpture in the form of a huge fork stuck in a piece of cheese was recently placed in the middle of downtown. A lot of people are asking just what the devil THAT is about!

I don't believe I can write what Capt. Roddy called the various artworks high up on posts lining New Orleans' Woldenberg Park along the Mississippi River. It was about something on a stick.

HI Taylor: The plastic fake wheel was installed in 2002. The City and Civic leaders hyped it up as the American Queens wheel and the print and TV media swallowed it. When I blew the whistle ( pun intended) I lost several of my "mover & shaker" friends. The real wheel is of course on display at Port Amherst.

Well, that doesn't say much about certain mover & shakers' integrity, does it? I'd rather have fewer friends with integrity than not.

Well said, Frank!

I've seen the real one down at Charleston last year when I rode down with Jeff. The weather has taken its toll on it but it's still a sight to see. Neat to track where all these things have gone and all the hands they've passed through.

I spent 24 days as a passenger enjoying the spray from the American Qeens first paddle wheel. As many people know the paddle wheel shaft cracked near the end of her second paid trip. The wheel was tied off and the boat operated on the Z drives only until November of 1995.
