The March 31, 2012 Kentucky Enquirer reported that the AQ successfully completed sea trials this past week. So America is one step closer to overnight passenger service on the Mississippi River System.

The most recent blog on GASC's website has a few photos of her out on trials and landed alongside of the wharf near Cafe du Monde's satellite shop on the Riverwalk.

Greg Brown mentions that some technological changes have been made to smooth out the ride in the Engineroom Bar. (And by extention to the deluxe staterooms above the bar.) It appears in the photo as if the sliding glass doors to the rooms forward of the wheel have been removed which might be a mistake. When the AQ's wheel is rolling it can send up quite a bit of spray on to the after decks right forward of the wheel.

Windows

Hey Frank
Old stern windows in those suites were a total loss. There wasn’t enough left to repair. We cut it all out and gave that area a serious rehab. There is a new window system being installed that is vinyl clad aluminum that should have a much longer life span. I am hoping to get them installed this week before our first shakedown cruise.

Thanks, Greg,

That makes sense to me. I also noted that the red panels with the stars painted on them weren't raised up to their original positions against the railings, so I was hoping that the sliding doors were soon slated to be replaced.

I'm dueced glad that you folks in Memphis are reading the postings over here on dot org and then posting. Keep it up!
