I have a question about the Columbia Queen. I've been wondering if it is a paddle boat. It looks like its a side-paddle but I'm starting to think it has prop. Thanks..... Caleb
No Paddle. Nice boat. No Paddle.
As Paul says...a little more data:
Two 1350 hp Diesels each turning props for thrust, plus two additional 950 hp diesels to do stern manuevering via, I think, z-drives.
Of all the west coast boats, this is the one Deb and I would really like to try sometime. It just seems from the pictures that the CQ still has some of the DQSC decor and flavor.
I've only been aboard the CQ once. She was in the yard prior to her aborted season under Michael Lomax's flag. Keith Tinnan gave me a tour as we were discussing my maybe joining her crew.
What stays with me about her is a lot of dark wood and a lot of nooks and crannies. The staterooms are old time elegant. The showroom is old timey, 1940's vintage with a large dance floor. The lounge is particularly inviting. At the stern with a lot of windows providing a panoramic view of the river.
All who have worked her say that she has her own magic.
