It's a foggy morning on the Ohio, which is HIGH and rising as a result of all the recent heavy rains. Chief Kenny Howe is here, along with a crew of volunteers and, after another mug of coffee, we're preparing to begin decorating the mansion for the holidays. The Christmas trees are up in the Parlor and Library and yesterday I hauled boxes of ornaments, wreaths and garlands from storage to start the "hanging of the greens".

Our Christmas Open House is on Sunday, December 11th from 1:00 until 4:00 PM. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on deck to visit with the little people and we'll have refreshments in the dining room. Kadie Engstrom, well known on the BELLE of LOUISVILLE, will be signing her new book, Pathway Through The Past, a pictorial timeline tour of historic sites in this region. The book is beautifully done and contains many river and steamboat images.

The gift shop will be open and is well stocked with books, prints, mugs, jewelry, note cards, photographs, DVD's, CD's and other steamboaty items that would make great stocking stuffers for that riverboat buff or buffette on your list!

Admission is FREE on December 11th. For further information visit our website at Howard Steamboat Museum - Home Page

Please join us for a festive afternoon!

Keith,

I am planning on being there...at least for some of the festivities! Just send up good thoughts that Our Mother of Blessed Acceleration doesn't get me into any trouble navigating the roads as I head feverishly north on the 11th!
