I am interested in the history and what may be known about the final disposition of a Steamer known by the name of H.A Harvey Jr. This was the largest steamboat to ever reach the landing in Dallas, Texas. It operated on the Trinity River under the Trinity River Navigation Company until 1898 when the TRNC shuttered. It was sold to a company in Louisiana but there is no mention of to whom it was sold. I was able to find a reference in the 1904 Railroad Commision of Louisiana's Annual Report of a boat by the same name operating for the Vermilion Transportation Company on the Vermilion River. The company itself was based out of Franklin, LA, but the report shows that the H.A Harvey Jr sailed from Abbeville, LA. I have not fully checked with the Vermilion Historical Society yet to see what info they may have, but a perusal of their slide show listing boats that sailed from Abbeville did not include either the H.A. Harvey Jr or the other boat owned by Vermilion, the Why Not. If anybody out there knows anything about the history of the Vermilion Transportation Company or the H.A. Harvey Jr, I could sure use some help.
I have included a link to the 1904 Annual Report that shows the listing for the H.A. Harvey Jr.
Thanks for your help,

Mike,
I´m sorry for that "Tom Adams" thing. By some still unknown reason some users appear with this name although you have logged in with your name. But we still don´t know why this happens.

Mike,
Way's Packet Directory has a little information on the H.A. Harvey, Jr. I have a bit more in my files and would be happy to share what I have with you. Email me at [email protected]
