Ernest Wagner, Jr., known to most as " Little Ernie" died this morning at his home in Florida. Capt. Wagners grandaughter works for me and will get more info as it becomes available.

Thank you Capt. Bill for the sad news. I was just thinking about Ernie Lee earlier this week and wondering how he was doing. Capt. Doc Hawley told me, some months ago, that he had talked to Rosa Lee, now in her early 90's, and she said that she fully expected to outlive Ernie Lee due to his extremely frail state of health.

Let me also add my thank you for sharing the sad news. Many of us "old-timers" have great memories of riding the DQ with Ernie Lee on the Ohio, or of spending time with him during layovers in Cincinnati, especially when the Reds were playing at Riverfront Stadium. The last time I saw him was in the summer of 1978 at Capt. Wagner's home in Orlando. It's very hard to think that it's been thirty years already. Please keep us posted on any additional information you are able to gather. Thanks again.

Appreciate your posting on Ernie Lee. Spooky indeed as this past week I was moving things around and in one of the 'dusty boxes' found a series of B/W photos I shot back in the mid 1960s of Ernie Lee with my parents on the old GL wharfboat here in Cincinnati waving as we looked back from the departing DQ heading for Kentucky Lake.

Cheers,
R. Dale Flick

When Ernie Lee was just a toddler, he would hold my hand and I'd walk him around-and-round the dance floor on the AVALON. It was sad to hear, only today, that he had died. My deepest sympathy goes to Mrs. Wagner and family on the loss of their son and brother.
