Does anyone happen to know which steamboat had the first freezer installed? Freezers/ice makers seem to have become the rage about the Civil War even though they had been demonstrated for almost a century. Cold cars, ice, and freezers seem to be heavily tied with the rail roads but I am wondering how much they were used on riverboats.
