I have found this clip from youtube. What a sight to see the inside of the Goldenrod Showboat. Kanal von tylerlavite - YouTube
I had such hopes when I received an email in August 2010 stating that the “new owner of the Goldenrod Showboat” was going to be restoring her. They were in the process of raising the funds necessary to preserve her…. I emailed back stating YES I did have interest in helping.
I have several programs etc still in my procession from The Goldenrod. One photograph hangs on my den wall of me and the cast of the show October 1978. Hey this Blonde Lady with Dark Roots in Indiana still cares about The Goldenrod Showboat....
I do worry about her. The memorabilia that was in that ship was remarkable! I would attend melodramas there when Frank Pierson owned her. The mementos on the wall were priceless!
The history in that place took your breath away. Much like it did when I saw this clip on youtube.
Memories of the Goldenrod
Thanks for your remembrances of the GOLDENROD, Nancee. Frank Pierson passed away in 1988, but his wife told me some years ago (she has since passed on as well) that vandals had come aboard the boat shortly after her move to St. Charles in 1990 and most of the historical memorabilia on the walls was either stolen or destroyed.
Let's all hope it's not too late for the old showboat to make another curtain call!
Great video!!
Just watched the video. Was extremely impressed. Thanks for sharing.
