Here is the obituary of Harry Robinson, who was instrumental in attracting the Becky Thatcher to Marietta and was the driving force behind the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival. It's interesting to note that he passed away almost one year to the date of the loss of the Becky Thatcher.

Harry Robinson was a fine gentleman and a devoted champion of his beloved hometown of Marietta. When the BECKY first came to Marietta in 1975 under his leadership, Harry was very appreciative when I loaned him many pictures and other materials pertaining to the Str. MISSISSIPPI to copy for their historical archives. He did a lot for Marietta and his dedication and gracious friendship to many will certainly be missed and long remembered with much gratitude. It was a pleasure to have known him.

*RE: Harry Robinson/BECKY THATCHER today*
Hi, Jeffery, Keith & steamboating collegagues:
The two postings above RE: the passing of Harry Robinson much appreciated by all of us as 'family.' I just returned Monday PM from a long jaunt aboard ship at sea and have been catching up on my mail, E=Mails etc. In my pack of U.S. Mail I found a letter with clipping from Woody Rutter, Editor and President of S&D Emeritis, titled: 'Ohio River still holding on to boat's remains.' This a consice up-to-date recap of the sternwheel MISSISSIPPI/BECKY THATCHER with a nice spread sheet on the 'Life of the BECKY THATCHER' from 1927 to February, 2010. Well worth reading.

The article, with two photos, appeared Monday, January 24, 2011 - THE TIMES, Beaver Newspapers, Inc., Pennsylvania, by Michael Pound, 'Times' staff. Being just a clipping I can't hone in on the paper's address on their mast head for you all at this time. Some of you may wish to search and click the paper on your search engines. "All that remains" of the BECKY THATCHER in the photos a somewhat dismal, sobering sight. *Michael Pound can be reached at: [email protected]
Cheers!

Type TIMESONLINE.COM into your search box and then BECKY THATCHER. There is a video as well as an article and photo showing a portion of the remains of the BECKY submerged. Sad!
