...because today, May 13, is HIS birthday! Besides keeping up with sending wishes to everyone on their special day, he finds time to: write the Old Boat Page in the Waterways Journal, be Administrator and Curator of the Howard Steamboat Museum, be the creator and supervisor for the long-running successful River Ramblings Series at the Howard, keep his personal collection so organized he can supply an answer to most any steamboat/river question almost immediately, share his memorabilia and pictures generously with fellow steamboaters, and generally be an all-around Good Guy. So, here's a 32 note salute from the Church of the Holy Calliope's membership on this your natal anniversary!
1) 6/22/81 in Peoria on our UMR Safari - bad timing to visit the JBS
2) 6/21/81 in Clinton, Iowa - more bad timing for visiting the OMAR/RHODODENDRON/CITY OF CLINTON....luckily for those of you who wish to visit the Howard, you won't have these problems with Keith at the helm and ready to give you the Steamboaters' Deluxe Tour...
3) 6/23/82 on our Upper Ohio Safari. Keith had just purchased the chair from the GOLDENROD, the BECKY sign, and the chandelier from the GORDON C. GREENE, nee CAPE GIRARDEAU. Foreshadowing his official curating career, Keith had that chandelier refurbished and wired in his house in less than a week!

Here are a few more aspects to Keith's life
1) playing the pipe organ at the First Presbyterian Church in Port Gibson Mississippi (the church with the finger atop the steeple and the ROBT.E.LEE chandeliers inside
2) meeting Miz Marilyn MONroe in Vicksburg
3) with his mentor Ruth Ferris in her E Z ROCKER home museum

Happy Birthday Keith, if your going to have a natal day, May is the best. In your words "keep up the steam".
Happy Birthday Keith
Happy Birthday Keith! See you and and the gang next weekend at the Howard Chautauqua Festival.
A musical tribute stolen from my 'grandson'

Happy Birthday, Keith - to one fine guy and devoted river historian, musician and friend. Virtual Happy Birthday to you from all the calliope keyboards I miss playing these days!
And thanks for the posting, Judy.

Keith, Happy Birthday from near Big Indian Creek, in good old Harrison County. You might recall I usually try to get a real card in the mail to you. But this year has just been a whirlwind (or whirlpool - since we're river folks). Anyway, don't hold your breath waiting for it.
See ya Saturday and Sunday when I'm on deck working at the Howard.
Enjoy that chocolate cake tonight.
THANKS!
THANKS for the good wishes, which have made this old tub feel like a floating palace! Miz Patsch certainly did some "dredging" to post those vintage views from one of our safaris some 30 years ago! I certainly had less weight and more hair in those days!
Again, many thanks - and y'all come to see me at the steamboat museum!
Happy Birthday, Keith! Is there any of that cake left?
Love the cake (looks real steamboaty) and the shorts, as shown above. A long and 2 shorts on the B3. Who's that Marilyn Monroe? Is she still around?
Amen, Judy! Happy Birthday, Keith!
