Speaking of my old gig, I remembered that the company logo reminds me of the "REAL" Delta Queen Steamboat Company logo.

You know, I'm looking at Paul's two posts about HSB, and I'm thinking "why do these initials ring a bell?"

The Hartford! Geeze, I design heating systems with specialty piping layouts on the back of the boilers called Hartford Loops, a little ditty they invented a gazillion years ago to make boilers safer. And I'm not gonna be able to tell you the amount of Hartford Insurance boiler inspection certificates I've seen framed and up on mechanical room walls...small world...

Cool logo, never seen the logo on a certificate, though...

Hi B,

Just a little correction (well not so little to HSB). The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company is the oldest Boiler and Machinery insurer in the country and is not affiliated with "The Hartford" insurance company in any way.

Yeah, thanks, I realize that. In our business, it's still The Hartford, and not The other Hartford with the buck as it's logo, a company that wouldn't know a Scotch Marine if it fell on one...

So you were a boiler plant inspector for HSB? You were the guy that all Facility Managers bite their nails to nubs over...

Boiler inspector to Banjo/Lounge entertainer? Quite the career change!

No, I was not an inspector. I was an underwriter. Don't want to give any of you real engineers the wrong idea. I can tell you the difference between an Gm6 and a C9 chord (there really is not much difference), but the guts of anything more complicated than a church key is way above my pay grade.
