Do we have an expert around for - I suppose - Columbia River boats? This boat has an interesting setup with a Sampson post in addition to the hog-chain system, single smoke stack behind the pilot house, kind of a cover over the paddlewheel. But unfortunately no name of the boat is visible. Is anyone able to identify this boat? Or narrow down the search?
I don't have any additional information, just this picture ...
Seams like I made a fool out of myself ... The name of the boat if being written right in front of this postcard; it's "Pride of the River" ... Never thought this might actually be the name of the boat; just too obvious ;-))
I found the boat in "Paddle-Wheel Days in California"; she server from 1878 until 1942 when she was abandoned.
A picture of a similar boat in that book shows that these boats were towing (really towing, not pushing!) barges by a line from their hog-posts (which I falsely identified as a Sampson post).

I would identify that tall thing on the roof as a Sampson post. Those other squared off beams are different, though. What is their purpose? Also note in the background the masts of a square-rigger.
